Elisa Pritzker Portada

Elisa Pritzker studied at two art institutions in Argentina: School of Ceramics and Superior School of Visual Arts.  Very early influences were her sister who enrolled her, when she was 8 years old, into art classes for children at the Superior School of Visual Arts; and her father, a passionate for the arts, an exquisite music listener and theater director aficionado who infused in her a love to listen and observe. From her mother she learned to care for the harmonious attention to details, colors and objects. It all began then, non-stop till now.

The visual language of Pablo Picasso and Hyeronimus Bosch impacted her at an very early age. Other big influences are Louise Bourgeois and Frida Kahlo.

Pritzker lived and worked in Argentina, then Spain until relocating to the USA, in the Hudson Valley, New York State.

“Born in Argentina, Elisa Pritzker has made the Hudson Valley her home for over 20 years, and has helped to shape the evolution of the regional arts scene in that time, first with the Highland Cultural Center, a multidisciplinary arts organization, then through the Pritzker Gallery at Casa del Arte, and through her own work. Pritzker has received two Congressional Service Awards from Rep. Maurice Hinchey in recognition of her contribution to the cultural community. An artist at home in a variety of media, Pritzker has exhibited across the US and the globe. The Gothic Art Paper, from her “Lonely Hearts Club” series, will be shown at the Art Complex in Tokyo later this year. In May, Pritzker will exhibit a solo show on environmental themes, “Project Fresh Green,” at the Mill Street Loft in Poughkeepsie…”  Brian K. Mahoney, Chronogram Magazine editor, 2/2009♦
